"Jennifer Hanson's early work in Winnipeg as a rock singer and, later, jazz chanteuse was instructive for encouraging her to find music closer to her heart. For her second set she went back to the songs of another former Winnipeger, Graham Shaw, and trusted to a spare, almost naked sound, with the occasional rough patch honoured as natural to the feeling. The gamble works. "How the Night People Pray" and "Only Waiting" are a valuable reminder that emotion needn't mean bellowing. In brighter, swifter songs such as "In the Cathouse Again" and "In Hollywood it Happens all the Time" she goes just as deep to make the best of Shaw's wry details." — Randal McElroy - Flavour Magazine
